Не могу с достоверностью утверждать так ли, в самом деле, все и произошло, но и отрицать подобного развертывания событий тоже не стоит. СССР в течение всего времени вплоть до прекращения своего существования сохранял абсолютное численное и качественное превосходство над НАТО в танках. Заметьте, без учета стран Варшавского договора. Даже в те времена, когда в СССР отечественное танкостроение переживало кризис из-за увлечения ракетами одного из руководителей страны.

I’ve seen Russian tanks in New York!» I would not vouch it happened exactly in this manner but it well might the fact. Until its collapse, the Soviet Union had retained absolute numerical and qualitative superiority over NATO in tanks. Mind you, the Soviet Union alone without other Warsaw Pact members. It did so even at the time then the Soviet tank industry was in dire straight due to the the then Soviet leader’s infatuation with missiles.

Lately, there has been a clear trend of a growth of industrial production in Russia.
Hopes are especially pinned on most competitive branches of Russian industry, particularly, aircraft and space-rocket industries. During the global economic crisis of the 1990s, Russian aircraft manufacturers managed both survive and retain most of their production and technological capabilities and skilled personnel.
Owing to export deals with China and India for delivery of Su-27 and Su-30 combat aircraft and their licence production, the military aircraft segment of the aircraft industry maintained a stable enough footing in the ’90s. later on, the military sector of the aircraft industry diversified its exports following the saturation of the Indian and Chinese markets with Russian-built warplanes. Contracts to supply Su-30 and MiG-29 family fighters to India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Algeria and Venezuela, awarded earlier in the decade, allow the production lines not to sit idle for the coming five years until the emergence of a Russian fifth-generation fighter.

Эта история случилась во время Первой чеченской кампании, весной 1995 года. Не вдаваясь в подробный анализ событий тех дней, просто констатируем. На некоторых участках продвигавшиеся вглубь Чечни части федеральных войск сталкивались с оборудованной по всем правилам обороной вооруженных формирований сепаратистов. Да и боевая техника у них имелась. Об одном эпизоде, в котором состоялась своеобразная танковая дуэль, и пойдет речь.
Экипаж танка боевиков был умелым, опытным, отлично подготовленным. Танкисты умело использовали особенности местности, в которых приходилось воевать.

Наверное, многие обращали внимание, что когда по телевизору показывают репортажи из «горячих точек», то обязательно где-то в кадре мелькнет многоосная бронированная машина – БТР Неважно, какой он модификации, БТР-70 или БТР-80, и неважно из какой страны передается репортаж – из России, Грузии, Сомали, Анголы или еще какой-нибудь с труднопроизносимым названием. Важно другое. Российские бронетранспортеры, как самые надежные и способные решать большинство задач по транспортировке и огневой поддержке пехоты, спецназа или других силовых подразделений пользуются популярностью не только в нашей стране, но и далеко за ее пределами. Как ни странно, но наши БТР-80 состоят на вооружении государств НАТО, и не только тех, какие переметнулись в альянс из Организации Варшавского договора, а в странах, которые стояли у истоков создания блока НАТО. Турция, например, имеет на вооружении не одну сотню наших бронетранспортеров, хотя эта страна производит и продает за рубеж собственные бронированные боевые машины.

Probably, many have noted that TV reports from hot spots are sure to show for a moment or two a multiaxle armoured vehicle – the armoured personnel carrier (APC). The version does not matter – the BTR-70 or BTR-80, neither does country being covered by reports – Russia, Georgia, Somalia, Angola or some other nation with a name very difficult to pronounce. What matters is Russian APCs, as the most reliable and capable ones to handle most troops carrying and fire support missions, are popular both in Russia and all over the world. No matter how strange it seems, BTR-80 APCs are in service with NATO member states – both those that switched the sides after the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact and the ones set up the alliance. For instance, Turkey operates several hundreds of Russian-built APCs, though it makes and exports armoured vehicles of its own.

The 6th Latin America Aero & Defense show/conference, LAAD ’07, took place from April 17 to 20 at the Riocentro exhibition facility in the vicinity of Rio de Janeiro. Unlike previous shows in Rio, this year’s LAAD was for the first time held jointly with the Aviation Expo Latin America ’07 civil aviation show.
